Our Valentines Day.

Hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day. Ours was filled with overindulgence in the form of cake, cupcakes, ice cream cake, and sugar cookies.

I whipped up Avery's skirt in about half an hour the night before. Sawyer has a v-day shirt that I made him last year but I forgot it. :(

I love this clippie. <3

Yummy carrot cupcakes!

Be My Valentine Tic-Tac-Toe.

A short and to the point post today. I wanted to get a picture up of this before Valentine's Day came and went. Sawyer's class Valentine's party was last week and I didn't want to send candy and plus I had a been mulling the idea for these around in my head for a while. I decided to get ambitious a couple of days before the party and whip them out. Needless to say, I was up late cutting little tiny felt hearts but Sawyer said that everyone in his class rrrreeeeeaaaalllyy liked them so all worth it!

It is basically two heart-shaped pieces of felt sewn at the sides to make a pocket for the heart pieces. The board is glued down using clear-drying fabric glue. I recommend doing these for a small class. I made twelve and I don't think I could have done even one more without going a little batty!

Hope everyone has a lovely Valentine's Day!

Le Trampoline

I know that I have been slacking in the craft post department but I am in the middle of a major creative space organization project, to put it elegantly. Actually Shannon describes it as looking like Jo-Ann Fabrics came into the room and puked. He has a way with words. ;-) In the meantime, here's another post about my ever so interesting life starting with Sawyer's first visit to the dentist.

This boy was nervous as heck but so brave! He made certain upon his arrival that would not be getting any shots, double checking with every staff member he met. Poor guy already has a cavity, I didn't know four year olds could get cavities! I guess that means he did not inherit my good teeth. I am debating whether or not to bring the video camera when he gets his filling as I'm betting that Sawyer plus laughing gas will equal hilarious! I think I just convinced myself.

O'er the river and through the woods, to Grandmother's house we go...

I wish I could bottle some of this energy. Pure vitality. As soon as he began hopping around he yells, "this is waaaayyyy better than soccer!" Great, saves me eighty bucks on soccer lessons!

Avery has to get in on the action too but stays safely within Grandma's reach.

My mom lives on about six acres in the middle of nowhere. I loathed living there as a teen but love visiting now. We go every Monday to catch up, eat and unwind and focus on the two little people that matter most to me. And let Grandma focus on them too while I nap!

The best thing about being in the country is the pace. There's no rush, no urgency to get things done and I've been trying to concentrate more on the small things, the minute details, life's little miracles. I'm a big picture girl, always planning and never quite in the moment. Never quite here.

I'm glad that I was present enough to catch this wicked sky.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Rainy Day.

Just another cold and rainy Saturday here in Virginia. It's starting to get depressing. Seriously.

I spent the whole day in the house. No showers, still in pajamas.

Avery was my hermit side-kick.

Sawyer and Daddy escaped for a haircut and lunch. The Sawyer "fro" has finally been tamed! "Pudding and cheese!" he said when I told him to smile for this!

Dad and the kids start putting together this shelf for my craft room redo project.

They are hard workers, stopping only briefly to smile for pictures.

She is such a copycat and smart as a tack. We're really going to have to watch her.

Rainy day activities.

Color matching activity from his workbook. I can't get over how awesome his hair looks!

He has to match the correct color food the matching shopping cart. We ended up doing two different versions of this, he liked it so much.

Please come quickly! I miss the sun and being outside. I miss tank tops and flip flops. I miss running around the soccer field, having family water fights, picking fresh vegetables, and taking long evening walks through the neighborhood. I miss the beach!!! I miss everything about warmer weather. But as miserable as this weather is, I really can't complain. I am still one lucky girl with a good life and the best family anyone could ask for. And so, I'll do what I can to make the best of it.
